Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa has expressed frustration over the lack of financial support from the Ministry of Sports for Harambee Starlets and Harambee Stars ahead of their international duties.

According to Mwendwa, the teams have made numerous requests to the Sports Ministry and the Sports Fund for funding, but have received no response.

“FKF has diligently communicated to the Sports Ministry and the Sports Fund to come in and fund the national teams. We have, however, not received any response from the Ministry, which is frustrating,” said Mwendwa on Tuesday.

As a result, the teams are at risk of pulling out of international competitions, including their upcoming AFCON Qualifier matches against Egypt and Togo.

Harambee Stars are set to travel to Cairo, Egypt for their first leg of their AFCON Qualifier on November 11, 2019, and will play Egypt in Cairo on November 15, 2019, and Togo four days later, on November 19, 2019, at the Kasarani Stadium.
