On October 29, 2019, Equitel announced the release of a new telephony bundle that combines talk time and insurance cover.
The bundle, available for as little as Ksh 1,249 per month, includes 500 minutes across all networks and a free Riziki cover of up to Ksh 2,500 per night in case of hospitalisation.
For Ksh 2,499, customers can receive 1,000 minutes and a free Riziki cover for the subscriber and their family, with up to Ksh 2,500 per day as compensation for lost income when hospitalised.
Riziki is a mobile-based insurance product provided through Equitel and underwritten by Britam, launched in March 2018.
The insurance cover secures daily earnings through a daily compensation to the customer, in the event of admission in hospital for three days or more.
Equitel has over 280,126 subscribers on Riziki Cover and aims to increase its value offering and attract more subscribers with this new bundle.
