AP Officer Detained for Excess Police Gear

Published on October 29, 2019, an Administration Police officer, David Odhiambo, has been detained for four days after being found with excessive police uniforms and equipment at his residence in Mihang'o, Kayole Estate.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, Odhiambo was interdicted after being charged with a criminal offence at Malindi Law Court.

He was serving in Tana River County but was found to be in possession of more uniforms than allowed, including four AP jungle jackets, seven pairs of jungle trousers, and 18 pieces of AP belts.

Additionally, he was found with two anti-riots helmets, 14 chevrons for an officer of the rank of corporal, a pair of handcuffs, and other items he should not have had.

Principal magistrate Merisa Opondo allowed the DCI to hold Odhiambo for four days to enable further investigations, with a court appearance scheduled for November 1.
