Kenya Power has appointed Bernard Ngugi as its new Chief Executive Officer, replacing Ken Tarus who was ousted in July last year over graft allegations.
Ngugi, who was formerly the General Manager, Supply Chain, was selected following a competitive recruitment process, the Board said.
Chairman Amb. Mahboub Maalim expressed confidence in Ngugi's ability to lead the company through a crucial stage of its development and growth, saying, 'We believe that Mr Ngugi will see the Company through an important stage of its development and growth as we work to diligently implement all our plans to strengthen the company and the commercial aspects of our business.'
Ngugi's appointment took effect on October 28, 2019, and he takes over from Eng. Jared Othieno who had been appointed in an acting capacity.
Ngugi has over 30 years of experience working at Kenya Power in various capacities and holds a Master's degree in Finance and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting.
