On October 29, 2019, Judge Daniel Ogembo ordered the release of Peter Karanja, a suspect in the murder of Dutch billionaire Tob Cohen, on Sh4 million bond or Sh2 million cash bail.

The judge also ordered Karanja to surrender his passport, stay away from Cohen's home, and not interfere with any witnesses, citing a lack of compelling reasons to deny him bail.

His case will be merged with that of Sarah Cohen, the widow of the Dutch billionaire, who is also a suspect. The merged case is set to be heard on November 12th.
