Kenya's 2019 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination is just around the corner, with rehearsals taking place across the country on Monday morning.
According to the Teachers Service Commission, 28,000 school heads have been licensed to act as centre managers during the examination, while 173,000 teachers have been assigned to officiate the exams.
On Sunday, the government announced plans to use police helicopters to transport exam papers to flood-hit regions, including Mandera, Wajir, Tana River, and Isiolo.
As the examination approaches, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof George Magoha has issued a stern warning to centre managers and other stakeholders against colluding with candidates and parents in cheating.
"My warning to them is very clear. The government is watching and those who will attempt will be punished. As a matter of fact, we have capacity to know if you open a paper, we will know where that paper was meant to be. Whoever fails to comply with the set rules and regulation will definitely be dealt with," Magoha said.
The three-day examination will begin on Tuesday at 8:30 am, with the first paper being mathematics, followed by English Language and Composition assessment on Tuesday, Science and Kiswahili Language and Insha exams on Wednesday, and Social Studies and Religious Education papers on Thursday.
