On Sunday, October 27, 2019, Granit Xhaka's leadership was put to the test at Emirates Stadium during Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
As the Swiss international was substituted in the second half, he was subjected to jeers from home fans, who were unhappy with his performance.
According to reports, Xhaka vanished from the tunnel before the end of the match, leaving many to question his leadership and behavior.
However, in a surprising turn of events, three senior Arsenal players reportedly visited Xhaka at his home to console him and offer their support.
"We need to stay calm and speak to him internally about that. He was not right to do that," Arsenal manager Unai Emery said in response to the incident.
Despite the criticism, Xhaka's behavior was defended by teammate Hector Bellerin, who acknowledged that everyone has emotions and sometimes struggles to deal with them.
Xhaka was named club captain in September, replacing Laurent Koscielny who left the club in the summer.
