On October 28, 2019, a Silverstone Air plane suffered a critical malfunction during take-off in Lodwar, forcing the pilot to divert to Moi International Airport in Eldoret for an emergency landing.
The Nairobi-bound plane, carrying four passengers and five crew members, was granted emergency landing permission at Eldoret airport.
According to Uasin Gishu Police Commander Johnstonne Ipara, all passengers and crew were safely evacuated from the aircraft immediately after it landed.
The passengers were then rebooked onto another aircraft operated by Skyward Airline to complete their journey.
Just a few weeks prior, on October 11, 2019, another Silverstone Air plane had crashed at Wilson Airport shortly after take-off, leaving at least nine passengers injured.
Images from the scene showed the Fokker 50 aircraft had skidded off the runway and plunged into a thicket, hitting trees and breaking part of its wing.
