Today marks the beginning of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Examinations (KCPE), with over 1 million pupils across the country sitting for the exams. This is the first time the exams are being conducted under the tenure of Education CS George Magoha.
As part of the government's efforts to ensure a smooth process, helicopters, boats, and top state officials have been dispatched to various regions to coordinate the exams. Interior CS Fred Matiangi was in Gilgil to officially open the exam papers, while his colleague in the Education Ministry was in Nairobi.
Transport CS James Macharia is spearheading the Central Kenya region activities, and Tourism CS is coordinating the activities at the Coast. The government aimed to avoid a repeat of last year's events, where bad weather and poor terrains hindered the delivery of exam papers, inconveniencing the process.
Mathematics and English papers will be written in the morning, followed by English composition in the afternoon.
