On October 29, 2019, Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui faced criticism from the county assembly over his decision to centralize all procurement processes under a newly formed directorate.
The move, which was formally decreed by Governor Kinyanjui, saw all procurement officers from various county departments moved to a central office in Nakuru town's London Estate.
The ward representatives have faulted the decision, arguing that the Governor has flouted the Public Finance Management (PFM) Act by forming the directorate without consulting the assembly.
Finance Executive Peter Ketyenya and two Chief Officers Muchina Gitau (Finance) and Kennedy Momanyi (Economic Planning) have been summoned to appear before the committees of Finance and Budget to shed light on the move.
