On Sunday, a two-hour clash between the Siria and Ruasi Ngishu Maasai clans erupted at the Enoororet-Nkararo border in Trans Mara West, Narok County, leaving close to 30 people with arrow-inflicted wounds.
The fighting, which began in the evening, was sparked by an attack against security personnel deployed to guard the demarcated borderline by one of the groups opposed to the new government borderline.
Narok Deputy County Commissioner Hassan Noor has warned politicians against tribal incitement, assuring residents of their security and stating that stern action will be taken against those found inciting residents, regardless of their status in society.
The two clans have been fighting for more than four decades over the boundary, with the latest flareup coming barely a fortnight after the government clarified boundaries separating the Uasin Gishu and Syria clans.
Meanwhile, the government has deployed GSU officers to the region to quell the violence.
