On October 28, 2019, South Africa's Leadhome, a property services company, launched a rental property service at zero percent commission. This move is part of a broader strategy to provide a full end-to-end range of boutique property services.

According to Marcél du Toit, CEO and co-founder of Leadhome, the company recognizes that rental property management requires specialist skills. Du Toit notes that the sector is marred by significant challenges, including a struggling economy, and that Leadhome has conducted extensive research into rentals to gain valuable insight into the pain points faced by clients.

Leadhome's rental service includes a full listing, advertising on all major portals, viewing facilitation, lease negotiation, drawing up contracts, and facilitating ingoing inspections. The company is currently in a beta test phase of its launch programme and plans to add additional products and services to the rental environment.

Many landlords struggle with the time to manage a leased property, often finding maintenance and management a bind. Leadhome aims to offer its service at well below the prevailing market commission rates.

Leadhome is extending its research beyond its initial 20,000 customers and inviting consumers to participate in the Gauteng-focused beta testing phase of its rental service.
