On October 27, 2019, Butali Sugar Warriors secured a crucial 4-0 win against Sailors at City Park Stadium, keeping their title hopes alive.
The team, led by coach Dennis Owaka, only needs two more wins in their remaining four fixtures to retain the crown.
Butali's Amos Barkibir, Francis Kariuki, Moses Ademba, and Derrick Kuloba were the goal-scorers in the match, helping their team maintain an unbeaten run and extend their lead on the standings with 36 points from 14 matches.
Wazalendo and Sharks, who were not in action that weekend, remain in second and third places, respectively, with 29 and 23 points from 14 matches.
Coach Owaka expressed optimism about the team's chances of defending the title, but also expressed disappointment at their decision to pull out of the Africa Club Championship in Egypt.
"We recruited heavily this season specifically for the club championship. As much as the league title is ours to lose, it's sad that we won't feature in the club championship which was our main target but we will see what happens in future," said Owaka.
Meanwhile, Parklands are facing relegation after losing to United States International University of Africa 2-1.
