On October 28, 2019, WorldRemit announced the shortlist for the Future Stars 2019, a program that recognizes and rewards young coaches who are making a positive impact in their communities through football.

Among the eight finalists is Beldine Odemba, the head coach of the Kariobangi Sharks Youth Team, and Feisal Abdi Hassan, the coach of Feisal Marleen Starlets FC.

According to WorldRemit, Odemba's greatest satisfaction is teaching life skills to young people, and she currently serves on the National U20 Women team technical bench.

Her journey into coaching began through her brother's passion for football, and she has worked as a volunteer and professional in the sport.

Hassan, on the other hand, was a professional footballer who played for Langata Gremio FC and has also coached both boys and girls teams.

He currently coaches 12 to 19 year-olds in Nairobi and believes that football can be used to motivate youths and reduce crime.

The eight finalists were judged based on their commitment to improving the lives of their community, the impact on young people within their community, and the strength of their proposal to pass on their training if they win the program.

Both Odemba and Hassan hope to share their experiences with local community coaches back home for sports development if they clinch the award.

The Future Stars program received over 1,400 online applications from across Africa and the Americas, and voting for this year's edition is now open on www.futurestars.worldremit.com.
