On Sunday, October 27, 2019, AFC Leopards secured a crucial 2-1 win over Sofapaka at Narok Stadium, moving them to second place on the KPL table standings.

Assistant coach Antony Kimani commended his team's determination, saying they were aware of the challenge Sofapaka posed.

“Sofapaka is among the best teams in the country, and we knew the type of challenge ahead, though we were cautious. We knew we had to press hard and win this match for us to jump to second position in the league,” Kimani said.

Red-hot John Mark Makwata scored a first-half double, securing the victory and sending Ingwe fans into a frenzy.

Leopards' sweet victory catapulted them to second on the Kenyan Premier League log with 14 points, one shy of defending champions Gor Mahia, while Sofapaka dropped to position 12 with seven points.
