On October 28, 2019, the Environment and Land Court made a landmark ruling in favor of Kilimani residents, ordering the Nairobi County government to shut down four night clubs in the area.

The court's decision was a response to a petition filed by the Kilimani Project Foundation, which claimed that the night clubs, including KIZA, B-Club, Space Lounge, and Explorers Tavern, were violating residents' rights to a clean and healthy environment.

The petitioners alleged that the clubs were causing noise pollution, littering, obstruction of motor vehicles, and exposure to immoral behavior, which was negatively impacting property prices and residents' income.

According to the court's ruling, the permits and licenses issued to the four clubs by the Nairobi County Government were illegal, and a mandatory injunction was issued compelling the county to revoke all liquor licenses issued to the clubs.

The ruling marked a significant victory for Kilimani residents, who had been fighting to protect their environment and quality of life.
