Regional carrier Jambojet has marked a significant milestone in its regional expansion programme by introducing flights to Kigali and Mogadishu. The airline has started selling tickets for the maiden flights, which are set to take off in November.
With the entry into the Kigali route, Jambojet becomes the only low-cost airline to operate the route from Nairobi. The airline's Chief Executive Officer, Allan Kilavuka, said the move is part of the company's regional expansion programme, which aims to increase passenger traffic from its Nairobi hub to the two destinations.
Customers can book their tickets through the airline's website, sales offices, call center, or travel agents. The airline will operate once-daily flights to the two destinations.
The Nairobi-Kigali route will begin on Monday, November 25th, at 2:35 pm, with a promotional fare of Ksh. 11,240. The Nairobi-Mogadishu route will operate from Sunday, November 24th, departing Nairobi at 6:00 am to arrive at 8:45 am. The fare will start from Ksh. 24,470 one way.
Jambojet currently flies to five local destinations and one regional destination, Entebbe, Uganda, from its hub in Nairobi. The airline has recently acquired a brand new De Havilland Dash 8-Q400 aircraft, which is expected to boost the airline's capacity as it looks to soar into more regional destinations.
Since its inception in 2014, Jambojet has flown over 3 million passengers, 30 percent of whom are first-time flyers. The airline was recently awarded the coveted IATA Operational Safety Audit certification (IOSA) and ranked top airline in Africa with the youngest fleet, according to a report by global aviation intelligence provider, ch-aviation.
