With just over a week left to the Kibra by-election, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has released voter numbers for the constituency. The announcement comes in a Gazette notice dated October 25, signed by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati.

According to the notice, there are 118,658 registered voters in Kibra constituency, with Laini Saba having 17,455 voters, Lindi 16,688, Makina 25,695, Woodley/Kenyatta Golf Course 28,066, and Sarangombe 30,754.

As the by-election draws near, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), led by Raila Odinga, has expressed concerns over the voter register, citing the need to scrutinize it to ensure supporters are not kept from voting due to missing names.

ODM leaders have vowed to march to Anniversary Towers, where the IEBC offices are located, if they do not receive the list of all presiding officers and clerks by Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Jubilee Party, Ford Kenya, and Amani National Congress have also campaigned in Kibra, with their candidates vying for the seat. The by-election follows the death of MP Ken Okoth in July after a long battle with colon cancer.

Lang'ata MP Nixon Korir, who has been Jubilee's campaigner, expressed confidence in their candidate, McDonald Mariga, saying ODM has 'no clear agenda' for the people.

He accused ODM of violence, citing instances where the party disrupted rallies by Ford Kenya and Amani National Congress candidates.

The ODM, however, refuted claims of being behind the disruptions, saying they were also carrying out investigations.
