On October 28, 2019, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Director for African Department, Mr Abebe Selassie, paid a courtesy call to President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi, where he commended the President for his efforts in fighting corruption.
Mr Abebe noted that Kenya's stable economic growth, averaging between 5.5 percent and 6.0 percent, is a result of the ongoing fiscal reforms implemented by the Kenyan Government to ensure macroeconomic stability.
“Because of this, Kenya is a leading light in terms of economic reforms and growth in the region,” Mr Abebe said during the meeting.
President Kenyatta thanked the IMF for its technical support, stating that the institution plays a key role in the stability of the country's economy.
He assured the IMF officials that his door is always open for discussions that benefit the country, saying, “Our door is always open. I look forward to working closely with you,” to the incoming Resident Representative, Mr Tobias Rasmussen.
