On October 28, 2019, police in Trans Nzoia made a significant breakthrough in the investigation of a robbery at the home of a businessman in Kitale. The robbery, which was believed to be an inside job, resulted in the theft of a Beretta pistol, three magazines, and other items including electronics.

Trans Nzoia County Commander Ayub Ali displayed the recovered items, including the pistol and 176 rounds of ammunition, and commended his officers for their swift action in recovering the stolen gun. According to Ali, the officers received a tip-off from the public and were able to recover the gun from a rental room at Lavington Estate.

Ali warned traders to vet those they want to recruit to ensure they employed honest individuals, and cautioned unscrupulous businessmen in Kitale who buy and sell stolen property. He vowed that officers are on the watch to tame the vice of burglary, which has become rampant in the area.

Ali was accompanied by County Criminal Investigation Officer Grace Mauklupe, and together they warned individuals collaborating with criminals that they will face the full force of the law.
