Deputy President William Ruto's visit to Kibra on October 27, 2019, was met with a mix of reactions after he arrived with two heavily-armed bodyguards.

The unusual sight of the bodyguards, part of Ruto's tight security team, caught the attention of many, including Suna East MP Junet Mohammed.

Junet took to Twitter to express his disappointment, saying,

This is how Ruto was guarded and came to ask for votes today in kibra and then you lie to people ground iko Sawa. Kibra is ODM and ODM is kibra.

However, not everyone shared Junet's sentiment. Some defended Ruto's heavy security, citing the chaos witnessed in Kibra during the campaign period.

Benji Ndolo tweeted, 'Musalia Mudavadi was stoned shamelessly in broad daylight by hardcore goons. Deputy President has a team fed by NIS to undertake thorough risk assessment and mitigation.'

Others, however, felt that the display of heavy security was unnecessary.
