On October 23, 2019, a tragic incident unfolded in Ndori village, Kothidha location, Homa Bay County, resulting in the death of 41-year-old John Nyambok.

According to reports, Nyambok had been engaged in a bitter rivalry with a love rival for the past two years, since the passing of the woman's husband.

The two men were reportedly trying to outdo each other to win the woman's affection, but things took a deadly turn when they allegedly discovered she was sleeping with both of them.

The rivalry escalated into a fist fight, during which Nyambok was hit with a blunt object on the head.

He was rushed to Marindi Health Centre, treated, and discharged, but his condition worsened a few hours later, and he eventually died.

Following Nyambok's death, an irate mob protested and carried his body to the suspect's home, demanding he resurrect him. The suspect managed to escape, and the mob set his house on fire.

County Police Commander Esther Seroney confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect's whereabouts are unknown and that investigations have commenced.

The body was taken to Homa Bay county referral hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.
