Published on October 28, 2019, the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report has been touted as a solution to Kenya's problems, but its true intentions are far from noble.

The report, a product of the Uhuru and Raila handshake, makes common-sense recommendations that would have been beneficial in a different context. However, its primary objective is to maintain the power and relevance of the two leaders and their ethnic bases.

The report's proposals, including reducing the number of counties and legislators, creating an Executive Prime Minister position, and other changes, are designed to satisfy the power-hungry ambitions of Raila and Uhuru while frustrating William Ruto's presidential aspirations.

As a result, the BBI initiative is doomed to fail, and its implementation will only lead to more heat and no light, more action and no movement. The public will be forced to accept the report's content without being aware of its true intentions, and the country will waste taxpayer shillings on a futile exercise.

Kenya's politicians are aware of the global trend of protests against corruption and misrule, and they are trying to appease the public with the BBI initiative. However, their actions will only lead to more trouble and unrest, and the country will continue to suffer from the same problems that have plagued it for years.
