On October 26, 2019, Southampton suffered a humiliating 9-0 defeat at the hands of Leicester City, with the Foxes recording the biggest English top-flight away win in history.

Leicester's Ayoze Perez and Jamie Vardy each scored hat-tricks, while Southampton's Ryan Bertrand was sent off with a red card early in the game.

Following the defeat, which sent Southampton into the relegation zone, the club's players and coaching staff announced that they would be donating their wages from the game to the Saints Foundation, a charitable organization that supports the local community.

According to a statement from the club, the donation is the first step towards making amends with the team's supporters, who were left stunned by the magnitude of the defeat.

Southampton's Austrian manager, Ralph Hasenhuettl, acknowledged that the team's performance was unacceptable and that they would need to find a way to improve if they were to avoid relegation.

With the team facing a double-header against Manchester City in the coming weeks, the players will be looking to make further amends and get their season back on track.
