On October 28, 2019, a Silverstone aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at Eldoret International Airport after one of its tires dropped off mid-air.
The plane, which was headed to Nairobi, had only 4 passengers and 5 crew members on board. Despite the loss of a tire, the aircraft landed safely at the airport, with emergency services on standby.
Uasin Gishu Police Commander Johnstone Ipara confirmed that all passengers and crew were evacuated safely from the aircraft immediately after it landed.
According to Ipara, the incident occurred soon after the plane took off from the Lodwar Airstrip, and emergency services were activated in Eldoret for the landing.
Relevant authorities have launched investigations into the incident, with Silverstone Air releasing a statement confirming the incident and assuring passengers that they were rebooked and landed safely in Nairobi.
However, the incident has raised questions about the safety of Silverstone aircraft, with some pointing to a previous incident in which a Silverstone F50 plane damaged a smaller aircraft in a taxiway on September 27, 2019.
