Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM) is embroiled in a controversy surrounding tribalism and nepotism, with some members accusing the church leadership of favoring certain individuals based on their regional affiliations.

According to sources, the church's current structure, which brings together over 30 assemblies, is dominated by individuals from the Central region, who occupy key positions such as senior pastors or assistant pastors.

The recent pastoral transfers have sparked heated debates among church followers, with some expressing concerns that the church is frustrating young pastors in favor of older, scandal-ridden ones.

Stations managed by questionable pastors, including Valley Road, Ngong town, Woodley, and Buruburu assemblies, have been cited as examples of the church's alleged favoritism.

As reported by Weekly Citizen on October 28, 2019, the power struggle within the church has taken center stage, with Bishop Oginde colluding with a section of the church to create deputy bishop positions, allegedly to weaken and oust Bishop Kimiywe.

The church has also faced negative publicity in the past, including a lawsuit filed by a contractor, Dinesh Construction, over a Sh181 million real estate project.
