On October 28, 2019, Environment and Land court Judge Loice Komingoi directed the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) to enforce closure notices against Kiza Lounge in Kilimani area, following complaints of loud music from residents.

The judge was persuaded by the petitioners, Kilimani Project Foundation, that residents' right to a clean and healthy environment had been infringed upon by the activities of the four clubs.

The clubs, known for hosting parties attended by major celebrities in Kenya, were accused of playing loud music daily and hosting rowdy revelers, thereby depriving residents of sleep and security.

Residents claimed that the operators of those businesses were causing a bad influence to children, thus violating their rights and freedoms.

The Nairobi county government was further compelled to revoke all liquor licences issued to the four clubs.

However, the judge declined to grant orders to permanently restrain the clubs from carrying on their business, citing the licences issued by the director of environment, Nairobi county government, Nema, and the NCC Alcoholic Drinks and Licensing Board chairperson.
