On October 26th, news of popular radio host Felix 'Jalango' Odwuor's private wedding to Amina Chao broke out on social media, sparking contrasting opinions from shocked Kenyans.

While Jalango's fans congratulated him on his marriage, others expressed frustration over the marriage being outside the Luo tribe, with some suggesting that this was a clear indication that men from the lakeside region were no longer interested in marrying ladies from Nyanza.

However, Jalango's post on social media, captioned 'jaber is jaber', seemed to suggest that he did not rate Luo women as he does those from other tribes, sparking a heated debate in the comment section.

Some prominent Luo men who have married outside the tribe or had relationships include Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili aka Babu Owino, Radio Maisha presenter Nick Odhiambo, Late Fidel Odinga, Jalang'o, Erick Omondi among others.

As the debate raged on, a Facebook user, Claris Tina, posted a message saying 'If you thought stigma is not existing think again. As someone is celebrating luo women someone else is only seeing HIV..Diana Ross we have work stigma is real.'

Another Twitter user, Kayz, responded by saying 'And, for a long time, I still don't understand why most luo men speak ill of luo ladies in matters relationship. I think it's Just a social media kind of noise. Out here, we have many luo women happily married to luo men.'
