On a sunny Sunday, September 15, 2019, at Narok County Stadium, AFC Leopards' John Makwatta made a statement with a first-half brace against Sofapaka, securing a 2-1 win.
The victory saw Leopards level on points with second-placed KCB, just one point behind league leaders Gor Mahia.
It took Makwatta only 15 minutes to break the deadlock, expertly controlling the ball, turning his marker, and unleashing a shot past Sofapaka goalkeeper Richard Aimo.
Just before halftime, Makwatta completed his double, securing a 2-0 lead for Leopards.
Substitute Ronald Okoth pulled a goal back for Sofapaka in the 81st minute, but Cassa Mbungo's team held their nerves to secure the win.
Earlier, Wazito was held to a 0-0 draw by Posta Rangers at the same venue.
