On October 27, 2019, Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka was involved in a heated exchange with fans at Emirates Stadium during a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.
According to reports, Xhaka was substituted in the second half, which did not sit well with him. He responded by waving his arms at the crowd and cupping his ears towards them.
Emirates Stadium erupted in jeers as Xhaka stormed towards the tunnel, allegedly mouthing obscenities along the way.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery was not pleased with Xhaka's behavior, hinting that he could lose the captaincy.
When asked if Xhaka would remain captain, Emery replied, "Now is not the time to talk about that." He added, "We need to stay calm and speak to him internally about that. He was not right to do that."
Xhaka was named club captain in September 2019, replacing Laurent Koscielny who left the club in the summer.
However, Xhaka has emerged as a divisive figure among the Arsenal support base, with some calling for his axing from the squad.
