On October 28, 2019, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu found himself in a precarious situation, with his options dwindling after Deputy President William Ruto abandoned him and he could no longer reach President Uhuru Kenyatta.

As a result, Waititu is now seeking the help of ODM leader Raila Odinga to access President Uhuru Kenyatta, with the aim of having the graft cases against him expunged from the courts.

Waititu's decision to seek Raila's help is a significant turn of events, considering his past rhetoric against the ODM leader. In July, Waititu had publicly criticized Raila, saying, "When Raila tells you to close your eyes, please, instead open them widely."

However, with his chances of surviving the current woes he is facing remaining slim, Waititu has become increasingly desperate. His attempts to access the VVIP Podium and Mombasa State House during the Mashujaa Day celebrations at the Coast were thwarted, further exacerbating his situation.

As the High Court has ruled that Waititu can only return to office after the graft charges against him are cleared, his future as Kiambu Governor hangs in the balance.
