On Saturday, a brazen attack in Nairobi's Globe Cinema area left a police officer attached to the Anti-Mugging squad shaken and his firearm missing.

The officer, who was on foot patrol, was accosted by men riding on two motorcycles at around 9 pm. The attackers made off with a Jericho pistol containing 15 bullets.

Nairobi police boss Philip Ndolo confirmed the incident, stating that the police are actively searching for the gang responsible.

Meanwhile, a police pistol reported missing last week was found in a supermarket. The firearm belonged to a bodyguard attached to Machakos County Woman Representative Joyce Kamene.

The bodyguard had reported the incident at the Central Police Station and was arrested for losing her firearm. However, her seniors received a report that the pistol had been found in a supermarket along Kenyatta Avenue, wrapped in a paper with all six bullets intact.

Police are investigating how the weapon ended up in the supermarket and will take action against those responsible.
