Published on October 28, 2019, the 2020 Diamond League calendar has been released, bringing significant changes to Athletics Kenya's plans.

The calendar, which includes 14 meetings and one grand finale, will start in April in Doha, with China hosting an additional event. This marks a shift from the usual May start, with events taking place in May.

World Athletics has also introduced the World Athletics Continental Tour, a second international series of one-day meetings, focusing on disciplines not featured regularly in the Diamond League.

Kenya's impressive Olympic performance in the 2016 Rio Summer Games, where the country claimed 13 medals, all from athletics, underscores the need for careful planning from stakeholders.

Athletics Kenya must convene a meeting with top athletes, coaches, and managers to create an appropriate calendar that avoids athlete burnout.

Identifying probable athletes for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is also crucial to cultivate good results.
