On Sunday, October 27, 2019, chaos erupted at Kamukunji grounds in Kibra as rowdy youth disrupted an Amani National Congress (ANC) rally led by party leader Musalia Mudavadi.

Mudavadi and ANC candidate Eliud Owalo were forced to flee for safety as the rowdy youth pelted his convoy with stones.

The incident occurred despite warnings from Kamukunji ground chairman Zadock Odhiambo, who had ordered Owalo not to hold a rally at the venue.

Earlier that day, ODM leader Raila Odinga had visited Kamukunji before proceeding to Laina Saba to drum up support for his party's candidate Imran Okoth.

Meanwhile, a standoff occurred between ODM and FORD Kenya supporters at Bukhungu ground, each faction vying to hold a political rally.

This violent incident is the latest in a series of violent incidents ahead of the high-stakes November 7 Kibra mini polls.

Just two weeks prior, Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga's convoy was also pelted with stones by rowdy youth, prompting him to petition the IEBC to take action against the ODM party.
