On October 27, 2019, K24 TV news anchor Anjlee Gadhvi exposed Patricia Warugi for faking cancer disease to gain public sympathy.
Warugi had recounted how she suffered after discovering she had cancer and the turmoil it caused her and her family.
However, after a report by Anjlee Gadhvi was aired on prime time show 'Weekend with Betty Kyalo', Warugi changed her story and admitted she lied about being sick with cancer.
Warugi confessed that she had been a compulsive liar and that cancer was the 'biggest lie' she had told.
"I am a compulsive liar… When you are a liar, compulsive or pathological, you are a good liar. You have no choice but to keep up the appearances and to remember what you said and when you said it. The thing with cancer is that it has become the ‘it disease’… Cancer is the biggest lie I have told."
