Kenya's Kibra Constituency is gearing up for a by-election on November 7, 2019, following the death of late MP Ken Okoth. The election is expected to be a closely contested affair between ODM, Jubilee, and ANC Parties.
ANC Party had convened a rally at Kamukunji grounds on October 27, 2019, to sell the manifesto of its candidate, Eliud Owalo. However, the event was disrupted by rowdy youth who pelted stones at Mudavadi's convoy, forcing him to flee the venue.
ANC Party dismissed the incident, stating that its wave was unstoppable and that Owalo was better placed to change the fortunes of Kibra residents if voted as MP.
However, the violence did not end there. Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga also had his convoy attacked and some of his campaign material destroyed. Mariga claimed the violence was orchestrated by the camp of ODM candidate Imran Okoth.
ODM, however, dismissed the allegations and accused Mariga of choreographing an attack against himself to gain sympathy from voters.
