With just two weeks left to the Kibra by-election, Deputy President William Ruto has called for change in the constituency, promising development and jobs to its residents.
Speaking at a rally on Sunday, Ruto said the people of Kibra are being given an opportunity to make the changes they have been yearning for.
"Kibra will never remain a hotbed of violence, a slum, a place synonymous with poverty," he said, vowing to transform the area.
He cited development projects in the Nairobi constituency, which he said Jubilee will continue with under the leadership of its candidate, McDonald Mariga.
"We will start working on stalled projects immediately after the elections on November 7," Ruto said, adding that the government aims to employ 2.5 million youths under the Big Four project.
The Deputy President also promised to set aside funds to compensate the families of those who died during post-election violence.
Mariga, the Jubilee candidate, has made similar promises, including building a technical and vocational education training institute in six months if he is elected as MP.
