Embakasi East MP Babu Owino was a no-show at an ODM campaign event in Kibra on October 27, 2019, leaving his fans disappointed.
According to Edwin Sifuna, the ODM secretary-general, Owino was unwell and unable to attend the event.
"The MP Babu Owino would have loved to be with us today, but he is unwell and couldn't make it. He is a sick man, so he couldn't come. But he said he will be with us on November 7 to cast his vote," Sifuna said.
Despite Owino's absence, the ODM campaign event went ahead as planned, with party leaders, led by Raila Odinga, rallying behind their candidate Imran Okoth.
Okoth, who is vying for the Kibra seat in the November 7 by-election, promised to work with Owino and President Uhuru Kenyatta to improve the lives of Kibra residents.
The by-election was called after the death of former Kibra MP Ken Okoth.
McDonald Mariga of Jubilee, Ken Okoth of ODM, and Eliud Owalo of ANC are among the candidates vying for the seat.
