On Saturday night, a senseless attack in Katani, Athi River, left two women dead and a businessman injured.
According to Athi River Sub County Police Commander Samuel Mukuusi, the victims were shot by two armed gunmen who trailed a Mlolongo-based businessman as he drove home with his wife.
The attackers first shot the mother of the businessman as she opened the gate, and then turned to her daughter-in-law who was in the car. Both women died instantly.
The businessman, who sustained gunshot injuries to his left arm and ankle, was taken to Shalom Community Hospital for treatment.
The gunmen also snatched a handbag belonging to the slain wife and escaped towards the quarry area.
Police are now pursuing crucial leads to establish the motive behind the shooting and identify the perpetrators.
