On Saturday night, a senseless tragedy unfolded in Kambi estate, Katani, Machakos county, where a prominent businesswoman and her mother were shot dead by thugs at their home.
According to Athi River sub-county police boss Samuel Mukuusi, the assailants waylaid the Mlolongo-based businesswoman outside the home as her mother was opening the gate for her.
Tragically, the gangsters shot the mother first before turning the gun on the businesswoman, leaving her father critically wounded in the process.
The father, who was also shot, is currently admitted at Shalom Community Hospital, while the bodies of the deceased were moved to the same hospital's mortuary.
Machakos police have launched investigations into the killings, which have left the community in shock.
