The Standard Chartered Nairobi Marathon, held on a sunny Sunday morning, showcased the city's lighter side as residents displayed their humorous and good-natured spirit.
Placard-waving fans strategically positioned along the route stole the show with their cheeky messages to the competitors, which quickly went viral on social media under the hashtag #StanChartMarathon.
Messages ranged from referencing recent events, such as Eliud Kipchoge's marathon world record in Vienna, to commenting on the country's ongoing corruption cases.

According to a foreigner who spoke to Nairobi News, the messages were intended to motivate the participants.
Meanwhile, Brimin Kipkorir and Purity Changwony Jebichi emerged victorious in the men's and women's 42km races, respectively, with times of 2:10:42 and 2:30:33.
