On October 25, 2019, American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ) honored Usain Bolt, the world's fastest man, with the 2019 International Humanitarian Award in New York City.

The award recognized Bolt's philanthropic efforts and contributions to economic development in Jamaica, particularly through his Usain Bolt Foundation, established in 2011.

Alongside businessman Glenford Christian, Bolt received the award for their dedication to helping those in need and inspiring change in Jamaica.

According to AFJ executive director Caron S. Chung, "Change does not happen in silos – it requires all of us to raise our hands, roll up our sleeves and find meaningful collaboration to help those in need, AFJ is pleased to honor two deserving icons who are affecting and inspiring change."

Bolt's Usain Bolt Foundation has supported various entities, including the Walkers Place of Safety and the Jamaica Special Olympics programme.

As a world record holder and Olympic gold medalist, Bolt continues to inspire and make a positive impact through his philanthropic efforts.
