On a chilly Friday morning, the residents of Sachagwan village in Molo, Nakuru county, were left reeling in shock upon learning that an 88-year-old man had been buried at 2am.
The burial ceremony, which was supposed to take place in the morning, had been preceded by the deceased, Joseph Kiama, making a series of unusual requests to his family.
According to his family, Kiama's dying wish was to be buried at 2am, without being taken to the morgue or buried in a coffin. Instead, his body was wrapped in a blanket and placed on a mattress before being lowered to his final resting place.
As per his wishes, Kiama's remains were buried next to the Molo River, a location that held significant meaning for the elderly man.
During the burial, Kiama's family insisted that only one person should shed a tear, a request that was reportedly made to avoid his 'curses'.
Speaking to the press, Kabiang'a location chief, Joel Chepkwony, revealed that the family had informed him of their plans and had insisted on following through with the unusual burial request.
