Published on October 27, 2019, Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has spoken out against Mt Kenya leaders opposing the Building Bridges Initiative's push to amend the Constitution.
According to Duale, there is a need to review the Constitution to allow for inclusivity of all communities in the national government.
He argued that the parliamentary system is best suited to serve Kenyans, unlike the presidential system, and that ministers should be appointed from among MPs.
With such a system, the prime minister would be answering questions in parliament from the people's representatives, Duale said.
He also argued that if Kenyans decide to retain the presidential system, ministers must come from parliament like in the French model, and the office of the leader of Opposition must be anchored in the Constitution.
However, already over 30 Jubilee MPs allied to team Tanga Tanga have vowed to oppose the BBI team proposals should it recommend expansion of the executive.
