One of the suspects, 20-year-old Mahseen Azwan, alias Dogo Presso, was identified as the leader of a notorious gang in Mombasa known as Temeke (TMK). The gang was blamed for a series of attacks on people in Mombasa, and their names and photos were even published on a wanted billboard by Kenyan police.
However, Presso and his team claimed to have reformed and moved to Bahrain in search of better opportunities. The five men worked for the security company until the incident that led to their arrest.
A top official at the security company was recorded scolding a recruitment agent, Jamal, for sending 'gangsters' to work in Bahrain. The official questioned how Jamal could have selected individuals with such a history and not known about their families.
