Raila Slams Court for Releasing Aisha Jumwa and ODM Supporters on Bail

On October 26, 2019, Raila Odinga expressed his disappointment with the court's decision to release Aisha Jumwa and her supporters on bail in connection with the murder of Ngumbao Jola in Ganda, Malindi.

Ngumbao Jola was shot dead on October 15, 2019, during a political rally in the area. The incident sparked widespread outrage, with many calling for justice to be served.

According to Raila, the court's decision to release Jumwa and her supporters on bail was a miscarriage of justice. He argued that the suspects should have been detained for 21 days to allow for a thorough investigation to take place.

"The court has made a grave mistake by releasing the suspects on bail. Our justice system is not fair. The suspects should have been detained for 21 days to allow for a thorough investigation to take place," Raila said.

On October 16, 2019, police arrested Jumwa and her supporters after they were accused of inciting violence during the rally. They were later released on bail by the court, sparking widespread criticism.

Raila's comments come as the country continues to grapple with the issue of police brutality and corruption. The incident has sparked a national debate on the need for reform in the justice system.

"This is a clear case of police corruption and abuse of power. The court's decision to release the suspects on bail is a slap in the face of justice," Raila said.
