On a high note, Kabras Sugar kicked off the 2019-20 season with a resounding 89-0 victory over Kisumu RFC at the Kakamega Showground on Saturday, October 26, 2019.
Former Fiji Sevens international Timoci Sinaite led the charge with a hat-trick, while the team scored 15 tries in total to secure a bonus win.
Head coach Henley Du Plessis expressed his satisfaction with the big win, stating that the team would build on the victory to push for more wins in their bid to dethrone KCB.
“Today was amazing and fantastic for the boys who almost made it 100. We are now going to build on the win and try to repeat what we did last season, with a plus of trying to win the title now,” Du Plessis told Standard Sports after the match.
Lawrence Buyachi scored the first try for Kabras Sugar, followed by Jona Kubu's conversion, and then George Nyambua's double to give the team a 12-0 lead.
Timoci Sinaite, Nyambua, and Paul Abuto contributed to the team's 29-0 lead at halftime, with Sinaite scoring his first try for Kabras Sugar.
After the restart, Brian Tanga extended the lead to 36-0, and the team went on to score 53 more points to secure the 89-0 win.
