Published on October 26, 2019, the government's ambitious tree planting project aims to restore the forest cover in Mau Forest, Kenya's largest water tower.

Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko has invited the public, institutions, and corporate organizations to participate in the exercise by donating seedlings.

According to Tobiko, the project targets to plant 10 million indigenous tree seedlings, with 3 million of them being aerial seedlings.

"I wish to inform the public that as part of the reclamation and restoration of the forest, the government has decided to undertake an immediate restoration process," Tobiko said in a statement.
