Deputy President William Ruto has come out to defend Jubilee Party against claims that the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) has caused divisions within the party.

Speaking in Western Kenya, Ruto stated that Jubilee is a democratic party that accepts different opinions without malice, and that they will stand behind President Uhuru Kenyatta on the matter.

"Eti kizungumkuti? Hakuna. Jubilee ni chama cha demokrasia ambacho hukubali tofauti za maoni bila chuki. Kwetu wote ni wa maana, lakini mwishowe tutasimama nyuma ya kiongozi wetu," Ruto said in a tweet.

He further stated that the party will not be divided by the BBI, and that they will work together to achieve their goals.

It is worth noting that Ruto has been a vocal critic of the BBI, stating that it may lead to the same problems that the Punguza Mzigo bill faced.

Other leaders who support Ruto have also stated that they will reject the BBI if it attempts to change the country's leadership structure to a parliamentary system.
