On October 12, 2019, Peterson Maina Kinyua, a 27-year-old Kenyan man, purchased 107 kilograms of meat worth KSh 27,820 from Moses Gichuri Waithera, a meat seller in Nairobi's Burma Market.
According to reports, Kinyua promised to pay for the meat through M-Pesa but failed to do so.
Waithera reported the incident to the police at Shauri Moyo Police Station, and Kinyua was subsequently arrested on October 23, 2019.
He was released on a KSh 30,000 bond and is set to appear in court on March 3, 2020.
The incident highlights the growing problem of meat theft in Nairobi's markets.
